Yüksek erime noktalarına dayanabilen ve ısı ile elektriği iletebilen bu %99,95 saf molibden tel, genellikle ışıklandırma sistemlerinde filamentler için destek oluşturmak amacıyla kullanılır. Oksidasyona dirençlidir ve korozyona uğramaz. Molibden, yüksek erime noktalarına sahip tantal ve platinden daha iyi ısı ve elektrik iletir. Ancak, korozyona karşı dirençli değildir.
